This Grammy-nominated lost hit brings back memories of when I first moved into my old apartment. This was where the neighbors almost blew up the gas station across the street with a bottle rocket. It's also where another set of neighbors flooded the building by angrily kicking the wall and rupturing the pipes.
For this single, Dolly Parton enlisted her friends Mary Chapin Carpenter, Pam Tillis, Kathy Mattea, and Tanya Tucker - as well as Billy Ray Cyrus for the song's bridge. Proceeds from the record sales were donated to the American Red Cross, in the wake of severe hurricane damage in Florida.
It's always interesting to have an occasional slice of country on this blog alongside the usual new wave, "yacht rock", and Electric Company music. Plus, this entry is from the second generation of lost hits - for maximum variety. It's a similar policy to what I use to sort music for my personal playlist, instead of having a strict specialty format.
Dolly Parton's recent death has set off worldwide mourning. Some states are flying flags at half-staff. Yet NBC embarrassed itself by running a photo of Loni Anderson instead of Dolly Parton.
It's enough to drive you crazy if you let it.
